March 08, 2022. QUINCY, Ma. IntelyCare, the largest tech-enabled nurse staffing platform for healthcare facilities in the United States, today announced exceptional growth for 2021, more than tripling its revenue from the previous year. The growth marks the fourth straight year that the company has at least doubled its revenue year-over-year.

IntelyCare grew its roster of nursing professionals – known as IntelyPros – to over 30,000. The company’s six-month retention rate of active nursing professionals who accepted their first shift rose by 40% in this time while IntelyCare’s net promoter score with nurses was consistently above 75. Additionally, the company expanded operations in 10 additional states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Texas, and Utah.

Since the start of 2021, IntelyCare has hired nearly 300 new employees in the U.S. and Albania. To support this rapid growth, IntelyCare relocated its headquarters to a 54,000 square-foot office space in Quincy, Mass. The company has also bolstered its executive team with three key hires in 2022: Chief Financial Officer Chris Sands, Chief People Officer Sheri Zee, and Chief Legal Officer Michael Berdik.

“Last year’s growth and our continued success thus far in 2022 underscores the fact that a tech-enabled, gig model-based approach to healthcare staffing can address the needs of both healthcare professionals and facilities,” said David Coppins, IntelyCare co-founder and CEO. “As more nurses demand a sustainable work-life balance, IntelyCare’s gig working model, powered by our AI-based platform, will ensure that nurses have control of their schedules while putting the power in the hands of facilities to better manage how they use their internal and per diem staff.”

Using Gig Staffing Technology to Overcome the Nursing Crisis

According to data from the IntelyCare Research Group, 41% of nurses are now considering leaving the profession for good. To keep more nurses by the bedside and help solve the staffing crisis, flexible staffing models need to be adopted in ways that overcome the instabilities that are often associated with traditional 1099 staffing agency contract work. Through its platform, IntelyCare hires nursing professionals as W2 employees – extending employer-contributed taxes as well as healthcare, retirement, worker’s compensation, and other benefits, including training, continuing education opportunities, and free mobile-based access to wellness counseling.

For its healthcare facility partners, IntelyCare has helped improve staffing levels and reduce staffing-related costs. IntelyCare’s platform provides facilities with the control needed to better manage the scheduling of their internal full-time and part-time staff, while at the same time enabling them to fill open critical shifts with per diem providers. With features that make it easy to staff individual shifts or long blocks of multiple shifts with specific per diem providers, facilities can ensure they maintain proper staffing ratios and reduce the burnout of their internal staff. IntelyCare has also started partnering with facilities to help manage their internal part-time float pools through its platform.

“IntelyCare has been able to expand our footprint to 28 states based on the strength of our technology. Our advanced algorithms are built to deliver personalized matching and incentives for our nurses to pick up shifts, while at the same time driving higher staffing fill rates for our facility partners,” said Matt McGinty, IntelyCare chief commercial officer. “Our continued expansion is a true testament to how our tech-enabled gig model has helped our partners meet CMS staff retention requirements and drive CMS star ratings that result in higher facility census.”

New C-Level Hires Key to Supporting Rapid Growth

As IntelyCare continues to expand into new markets in 2022, the company has hired three key executives to support its rapid growth.

Chris Sands is an experienced financial strategy and operations executive, having served in senior finance positions throughout his career, including most recently as CFO of MineralTree. Sands is joining IntelyCare to help drive the company’s strategy and scale the financial operations to support the company’s continued growth.

Sheri Zee brings over 20 years of experience building and defining cultures within transformative and growing organizations. Zee was most recently senior vice president, culture and talent for Skillsoft Corp. Zee will lead IntelyCare’s people strategy to attract, retain and develop the best talent in the industry while cultivating a culture of collaboration and learning.

Formerly general counsel at Salsify, CiBO Technologies and EnerNOC, Michael Berdik has over 15 years of experience advising and scaling both public and private tech companies. At IntelyCare, Berdik will be responsible for IntelyCare’s legal, data privacy, and compliance functions.

“With IntelyCare scaling at such a rapid pace, it’s crucial that we make the right investments, remain compliant with the ever-changing regulatory landscape in healthcare, and preserve the culture and values that our employees and partners have grown to rely on,” said John Shagoury, IntelyCare president and chief operating officer. “We are thrilled to bring Chris, Sheri, and Michael onboard to help guide IntelyCare on these fronts as we continue to expand.”
